Pembroke has won planning consent for a major project focused on health and wellbeing in the heart of London’s Square Mile, which will see it re-design the public gardens at 25 Cannon Street by creating a stunning new reflection pool with views of St Paul’s Cathedral.

This forms a major part of Pembroke’s vision at 25 Cannon Street, to deliver a comprehensive modernisation of 168,000 sq ft of office and mixed-use space in this prominent location. Work is already underway on the redevelopment of the building, which has been pre-let in its entirety to investment manager Brewin Dolphin plc.

Working with celebrated landscape and garden design practice, Tom Stuart-Smith, and in close consultation with the City of London, Pembroke will sensitively redesign the valuable publicly accessible green space. The new design will encourage use of the garden all year round, by introducing new pathways to improve access and encourage visitors to stay for longer. At the heart of the garden, Pembroke is introducing a dramatic reflection pool, which celebrates views of St Paul’s Cathedral and mirrors its striking architecture.

Nick Moldon, Senior Vice President and Head of UK and Germany at Pembroke commented: “We are excited to receive planning consent for this ambitious project, which will a create new out-door user experience for the City of London. Accessible to all, 25 Cannon Street gardens is an important oasis which promotes wellbeing in the heart of the City and compliments the elegant green spaces nearby. The delivery of this project is central to our long-term ambition for Pembroke’s London portfolio.”

25 Cannon Street marks Pembroke’s fifth significant development project in London, having also previously completed 49 Park Lane and 10 Finsbury Square and most recently, 4 Cannon Street, as well as the original development of 25 Cannon Street itself. Pembroke’s global development track record includes a significant portion of its own 8.6m sq ft (802,000 sq m) portfolio across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
